Index - Rob Bell & The Emergent Church

RELEVANCY22's UPDATED
INDEX - ROB BELL

To my readers,

If anyone would like to collate all of Rob Bell's sermons, videos and podcasts online this would be a great help to the community here. I would begin with Rob's own Internet site, Youtube, and Google accounts to check if he has released them to the public.

I would also check with my former church of 20 years, Mars Hill Church of Grandville (Grand Rapids), Michigan. Under their "All Series" I found AJ's past sermons have been kept by the church during the time he pastored after Rob and Kent Dobson. AJ was a more settled, as progressive, pastoral version of Rob and his sermons are as good or better than Rob's in many ways. Otherwise, Rob's sermons have been unlinked by the church. The question is, where did they go?

After you are done compiling your work you may send me your links to re-publish here at Relevancy22. Or link me to your site that I may download your work giving all due to your helpful work. Here, I do my own work and don't claim another's because everything here at this site is credited to any sources used.

A big thank you for your help!

Please Note
At present I find Rob's work to be very progressive even as we are here. Where I differ with Rob is in leaving (progressive) evangelical theology for (progressive) process theology. I find the bible extremely restricted under traditional and evangelical Westernized neo-Platonic structures whereas Whiteheadian Process Philosophy and its derivative of Process Theology more fully embraces the God of the Christian faith.

ROB BELL'S PODCASTS

  1. I have a large collection (nearly complete) of Rob's Sermons from Mars Hill 1999-2012. I found this site while searching for a catalog of sermon names for the early years. I can be reached at marshall@captuscreative.com if you are still interested.

  2. Thanks for this post. I found a lot of great info off of it.
Unfortunately the links for his older sermons are not working. Do you know of anyone else who has access to them?

  3. Hi. I don't. I suspect Rob has them in his possession as they are no longer available at Mars Hill Church in Grandville, Michigan. At one time they were held there but you had to pay for his sermons. I have two observations as a past lay pastor-teacher from Calvary (Ed Dobson) who attended Mars for 20 years: 1) go to Rob's site and look for them there; 2) go to Rob's site and listen to his media series... there's a lot. And perhaps a third observation: I've spent many years interpreting what I learned from Rob and sorting out the morass of ideas he held. I say this kindly - for I loved his fervor and zeal (and it did not put me off as it did many Christians) - but it was an admixture of many things. He, like myself, was growing away from evangelical doctrine - but for Rob, it seems only part-way along with the addition of other 'isms and ideas. I haven't kept up with him since he left Mars but here, at this website, I have spent a number of years "reforming and updating" evangelical theology before moving away from it. It took awhile but I felt then, as I do now, that traditional Christianity needs a complete facelift... and that I have found in process philosophy and its derivative, process theology. As a result, everything Rob was exploring fell into place while avoiding the pitfalls he was wading through at that time (ex. Pete Rollins Radical Theology... Process is Radical without being atheistic: see Matthew Segall's dialogues with Pete on YouTube. They may have been former roomies I think). Anyway, Rob's fine but what I'm putting up here is a more rigorous expose of Christianity, where it has been, and where it needs to go. I may be saying the same thing as Rob generally, but process is fundamentally different in many ways. So I would suggest spending a lot more time here because process takes awhile to sink in. But once it does all will be a lot clearer. Thus my recent posts on Revelation (again) before moving on to other subjects. PS. Should you find anything let me know and I'll try to link them into my site here for others to listen to. Thanks.
